According to data published on Tuesday by the Union Health Ministry, India recorded 2,568 new coronavirus infections in a single day, bringing the overall number of COVID-19 cases to 4,30,84,913, while active cases fell to 19,137. According to data updated at 8 a.m., the death toll had risen to 5,23,889, with 20 more fatalities.

According to the ministry, active cases account for 0.04 percent of total infections, with a national COVID-19 recovery rate of 98.74 percent. Over 24 hours, the active COVID-19 caseload has decreased by 363 cases.

According to the ministry, the daily positivity rate was 0.61 percent and the weekly positivity rate was 0.71 percent.

The total number of doses given out in the country as part of the statewide COVID-19 vaccination effort has surpassed 189.23 crores. On August 7, 2020, India’s COVID-19 tally surpassed 20 lakh, followed by 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16.

It exceeded the 60 lakh level on September 28, the 70 lakh mark on October 11, the 80 lakh mark on October 29, the 90 lakh mark on November 20, and the one-crore mark on December 19.

Last year, the country passed the two-crore mark on May 4 and the three-crore mark on June 23. There are 15 new deaths in Kerala, three in Punjab, and one each in Maharashtra and Mizoram.

“Our figures are being reconciled with the Indian Council of Medical Research,” the ministry said on its website, adding that the state-wise distribution of figures is subject to further verification and reconciliation.
