The UN’s International, Impartial and Independent Mechanism (IIIM) has received strong support from Syria’s new authorities to investigate war crimes committed during Bashar Assad’s regime. Following the regime’s fall, the team is preparing to secure evidence from detention centers and government facilities.

The IIIM aims to preserve critical documents and ensure justice for over 130,000 missing individuals and countless victims of atrocities. Collaboration with Syrians, civil society, and global partners is essential to uncover the truth and hold perpetrators accountable.
