Yunus Takes Leadership Amid Political Transition
Muhammad Yunus, a Nobel laureate and respected economist, recently assumed leadership of Bangladesh’s 17-member interim government. His appointment follows the end of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s 15-year rule. Hasina fled to India on August 5 amid widespread protests against her government.
Malaysia’s Readiness to Assist
Anwar highlighted Malaysia’s readiness to help Bangladesh in rebuilding and restoring peace and security during this transitional period. He emphasized the long-standing positive relations between Yunus and Malaysia, reaffirming Malaysia’s support for the interim administration.
Invitation for a Visit
Following their phone conversation, Yunus extended an invitation to Anwar to visit Bangladesh. Anwar expressed his intention to accept the invitation soon, aiming to further strengthen the brotherly relationship between Malaysia and Bangladesh.
